Hazel Park UCC kids have stockings hung on the office window ledge.  We invite the congregation to write notes of kindness and inspiration to the children and place in their stockings throughout the Advent season. The children are then invited to take their stocking home after worship on December 23.

The Special offering for the month of December is: The Christmas Fund offering (sometimes called Veterans of the Cross) is an expression of appreciation and caring to those who served as clergy (and certain lay employees) who are now retired or disabled and financially strained. During this holy time of year, the offering is a profound gift. It helps provide pension supplements, health premium subsidies, and emergency assistance to active or retired clergy families, and Christmas gift checks to hundreds of retirees and to those who are disabled.  There are special offering envelopes in the pews for your donation. Thank you for your continued support of our special offerings.

Santa’s workshop at Hazel Park Rec. Center! The Rec. Center offers a unique opportunity for youth in our community to purchase gifts for family members. Items for all ages are needed. This gives some buying power to the children to pick out that special gift for Mom/Dad, grandparents, and siblings, who may not normally receive a gift. Check in your home for items you no longer need or want. Suggestions are, picture frames, books, wrapping paper, gift bags, ornaments, candles, toys, jewelry and baskets. If you don’t want it, they will. There will be a box in the narthex to drop off your donations. Thank you. Any questions, please contact Alice, Elaine, Jean, LouAnn, or Marilyn (Outreach Board).  Santa’s workshop runs thru December 10.

A Blue Christmas Service will be held on Tuesday, December 11 at 6:30 p.m. This service acknowledges that grief, sadness, and loss are very much a part of this season. During this service, we will share in readings, light candles, and listen to the sounds of the season that hold so many memories. This service will be held in the Fireside Room

The Hazel Park ‘Tree of Warmth’ is a Sock and Boot Tree this year.  Please consider donating new socks, hats, mittens, and new or gently used boots, individuals dealing with homelessness. The donated items will be given to the Dorothy Day Center. Thank you for your contributions.

Hazel Park UCC kids have stockings hung on the office window ledge.  We invite the congregation to write notes of kindness and inspiration to the children and place in their stockings throughout the Advent season. We will be having a Christmas Pageant this year on Sunday, December 23 at our 10:00 a.m. service. Anyone who wants to participate is invited to perform along with the children of our congregation.

Christmas Eve candlelight service will be at 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. This service will include familiar readings and special music from members of the choir, It will be an evening that will move the spirit and remind us of the meaning and beauty of this special season.

Two generous donors have given us a challenge…if we come up with $3500.00, they will match it! So far $220.00 has come in for the match.  Please consider an extra donation to your church by the end of the year. On your gift mark it as “Giving with Gratitude.”
