Pentecost Sunday, the birthday of the church, is June 9. In preparation for the day, dig through your closets for the color red and wear it. Red is a celebratory color and we will let our sanctuary shine with all the red in the room.
Called to Care is a visitation ministry of this congregation. Lay persons work closely with the pastor in visiting members and friends of our congregation who are need of a personal connection, prayer and communion. If you would like a visit or if you would not like to receive a visit at this time, let Rev. Sara know.
TODAY after worship we will have a Special Congregational meeting. The Church Council is calling this meeting to provide a “check-in” and to ensure transparency. We will hear an update from our boards and receive a financial update from the Trustees. We did this last year and received positive feedback. We want to continue vital and healthy dialogue. Today is the day! Join your church leadership in hearing about some of the exciting things that are taking place.
We are planning a different summer worship experience on the 2nd & 4th Wednesdays in July, August and September from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. This is in response to busy weekends with family and friends during this precious time of year. Stay tuned for the unfolding schedule.
The Special offering for the month of June is: Sheridan story. For 2 years, we have partnered with Sheridan Story along with Holy Apostles Episcopal Church and Eastern Heights Lutheran Church to ensure that 102 children at Eastern Heights Elementary school had food over the weekend. We hope to continue this partnership as it aligns with our mission and vision of our congregation: …embracing and encouraging faith, love, children and community! There are specially marked envelopes in the pews for your donations. Thank you for your support of our special offerings.
Presented by the Ordway, the Flint Hills Family Festival is an annual multi-day event featuring performances, free activities, art-making, and more. Families will be swept away on adventures that spark imagination and inspire exploration, with performances by artists from all over the world and right here at home. Join us on May 31 and June 1 as the parks and public spaces around the Ordway are transformed into an artistic wonderland that encourages everyone to embrace their inner child!
Let’s kick-off summer at Conway Park! Celebrate summer and our community with food, fun, and activities for all ages. Neighbors, local businesses, and community organizations, including Hazel Park UCC and Hazel Park Learning Center will be there. See you Tuesday, June 11 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.
