The beginning of the Season of Lent begins with Ash Wednesday. Ash Wednesday is a solemn day of reflection, repentance, and prayer. Ashes to Go is a way to receive the imposition of ashes in the midst of a full and busy life. It provides a brief moment to receive an ashen cross marked on the forehead or back of the hand, often using ashes made from the burning of palms from the previous year's Palm Sunday service. Ashes are an ancient Hebrew symbol of repentance as a way of expressing to God that they are sorry for things they had done wrong and are seeking to turn their lives around in a new direction. Rev. Sara and members of the church will be on Minnehaha Avenue for you to receive ashes in the midst of your active life.
